I Can't Launch SimUText on My Apple Silicon (M1, M2, or M3) Mac

In order to run SimUText on a Mac with an Apple M1, M2, or M3 chip, you need to have the Rosetta application installed. The first time you launch an Intel-based application on your M1, M2, or M3 Mac, you should see a pop-up window asking if you would like to install Rosetta.

If you don't get the pop-up, then you will need to install Rosetta manually as follows:

  • Navigate to your Applications folder and then the Utilities folder.
  • Open the Terminal application.
  • Type the following into Terminal and hit enter which will launch the Rosetta installer and prompt you to agree to the Rosetta license agreement:

    softwareupdate --install-rosetta

  • Restart your computer.

After Rosetta is installed, you should be able to launch SimUText (as well as any other Intel-based application).
