I get a strange error message about a log file when I start SimUText

Some browser plugins, including the TestGen plugin, have been shown to be conflicts with SimUText.

Problem:

You start a SimUText chapter, but you get a message about an expired plugin, or a very obscure message about an error log. You can't continue with the program.

Action:

Some third party Web browser plugins are not compatible with the SimUText application. Unfortunately, they must be disabled in order to run the program.

If you are unable to disable the plugin to run SimUText, you may have to use a different computer for SimUText.

Known incompatible products:

  • ChemDraw
  • TestGen

To uninstall a Web browser plugin:

Windows

  1. Verify that you have the installer file for the plugin you use so you can install it again when you are done with SimUText.
  2. Go to Control Panel ->Remove Programs.
  3. Choose the Browser Plugin that you need to remove and uninstall it.
  4. Restart SimUText.
  5. Reinstall the plugin when you need it again.

Mac OSX

  1. Verify that you have the installer file for the plugin you use so you can install it again when you are done with SimUText.
  2. Go to Macintosh Hard Drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins and find the plugin file.
  3. The TestGen plugin is named "npTGEQPlugin.plugin".
  4. Move it to your desktop.
  5. Run SimUText.
  6. Move it back to the Internet Plug-Ins folder when you need to use it.

You must quit and restart your Web browser after moving the plugin file.
