I Can't Launch SimUText on My Apple Silicon (M1 or M2) Mac

In order to run SimUText on an M1 or M2 Mac, you need to have the Rosetta application installed.  The first time you launch an Intel-based application on your M1 or M2 Mac, you should see a pop-up window asking if you would like to install Rosetta.

If you don't get the pop-up, then you will need to install Rosetta manually as follows:

  • Navigate to your Applications folder and then the Utilities folder.
  • Open the Terminal application.
  • Type the following into Terminal and hit enter which will launch the Rosetta installer and prompt you to agree to the Rosetta license agreement:

    softwareupdate --install-rosetta

  • Restart your computer.

After Rosetta is installed, you should be able to launch SimUText (as well as any other Intel-based application).
